Upcoming Cocktails: List

French Connection

Named after the movie, which I have never seen, but the drink looked tasty! Comprised of Cognac and Amaretto liqueur, stirred and served over ice. This is a sipper and is traditionally an after-dinner drink (digestif – for you Frenchie’s).

Hemingway Special

Based on the Floridita daiquiri, this looks to be a very refreshing and delightfully citrus-y cocktail that was a favorite of Ernest Hemingway. When he tried the Floridita daiquiri he stated, “That’s good but I prefer it without sugar and double rum” which is what led to the variation of his namesake.

Tequila Sunrise

A classic...of the 70’s! Originally created in the 30’s or 40’s at the Arizona Biltmore hotel, this updated version is from the 70’s and was made popular by, of all people, the Rolling Stones! The variation we will be trying was created at the Trident in Sausalito, California, at the start of a Rolling Stones tour, picked up on by Jose Cuervo (which we will NOT be using) for marketing effect and away it went! (If I am feeling up to it, I may get the stuff for the original 30’3/40’s version, we will see).

Spicy Fifty

This newer cocktail is a wildcard drink that REALLY caught my eye. This was just added to the IBA official cocktails list in 2020 and was created in the early 2000’s by Salvatore Calabrese (and inspired by Jean-George Vongerichten, a Michelin-starred chef famous for his dishes where pepper is prominent) at the bar FIFTY in London. Containing flavors of vanilla, elderflower, lime, honey, and chili pepper – this shaken cocktail is so intriguing I can’t pass up the opportunity to try it with everyone! Hopefully it is as exciting to my taste buds as it is to my imagination!
